Impact Oklahoma Awards OVER $280,000 in Grants to Local Charitable Groups

IMPACT OKLAHOMA AWARDS $288,000 TO THREE LOCAL CHARITABLE GROUPS

OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 29, 2009) -- Impact Oklahoma, Inc., (IOI), a grassroots non-profit community of women, recently awarded $288,000 in grants to three Central Oklahoma non-profit organizations. Each year, IOI gives substantial donations to charitable organizations working in the areas of family, culture, health and wellness, environment and education.

For 2009, one $100,000 grant was awarded to Crossroads Youth and Family Services, Inc., an emergency youth shelter and youth services facility. Crossroads will use the grant to help remodel the emergency youth shelter and give it a “home-like” feel with new kitchens, nursery, playground equipment, and other essential home items.

Another $100,000 grant was awarded to YWCA for crisis services. The IOI grant will be used to help women and children escape and recover from domestic violence and sexual assault. Specifically, the grant will be used for additional counseling and long-term planning to help women and children who are victims move on and survive and thrive.

Also, an $88,000 award was given to the JETS afterschool program. The grant will be used to support the mission of JETS and their goal of providing faith and character development programs to Oklahoma City’s urban areas.

“We enjoy a true sense of satisfaction when we give back to the community and see the results of our actions,” said Page Amis Beatty, Impact Oklahoma President. “We know our grants will go to worthwhile and beneficial causes that directly meet local needs. We hope to make many more contributions in the future.”

Since the formation of IOI five years ago, the organization has acquired over 900 members who each donated at least $1,000. As a result, Central Oklahoma charitable non-profits have been given over $1,176,000.
